I was watching The Most Hated Man on the Internet, a TV series about Hunter Moore, a horrendous man who developed a cult following after creating a site called ‘Anyone Up?’ that was a hub for revenge porn. The ease at which so many like minded followers became devoted to him, and were willing to do ANYTHING that was asked of them is terrifying. If anyone went against him, he would pit his followers ‘the family’ against them; bullying and harassing them shamelessly. His narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies gave him an air of confidence and power that people flocked to. They wanted to be on the inside of the community, rather than being the ones being bullied. Although this started off as a small online community, it grew into a larger community with real life consequences.
Revenge porn and a variety of Moores disgusting actions were considered illegal, but thankfully, he was charged with hacking, and did go to prison for a while.
