To bring the player from the 3D (A-Frame) website onto the mobile app, I had originally made a google forms quiz, but realised this was too simple and didn’t fit in with the rest of the experience well enough. So I decided to make a WebGL quiz instead, and added a maze at the end to make it more interesting to play. This also shows the idea of a journey, and tests the skills of someone in getting out of a maze. The whole experience and its various sections is meant to test the devotion and morals of the player before finally allowing them to join the cult. All these tests are to be in line with our 8 objectives. To expand the maze game side of the Web game and connect it all more to the cult, instead of having simple buttons for the quiz, I turned the quiz into a journey itself.
To get to the end (where there is a QR code to download the mobile app, and a code to log into it), the player must follow the right path, answering the questions correctly and showing that they have enough knowledge and the correct morals to join our cult.
This is I feel a better way to have the quiz, rather than a generic button clicking variation without the extra narrative.
Over the last few weeks I have been finishing up the various parts of the project, and have also uploaded all the bits of ‘Itch’. This means anyone on the internet can access all the parts of the transmedia experience (and play them if they have the right equipment).
I have also designed posters to put over each sections stations, and postcards that act as business cards as well as a place to keep track of all the unlocking codes collected along the way.
For the show I have also bought some adhesive gems (4mm) in blue, purple, and pink. These are to be given to people who make it through each section, and successfully join our cult. I have tested them, and they are adhesive enough to stick on skin for at least 6 hours. There is no irritation, and looks great. I will wear one of each colour next to my eyes during the exhibition, and encourage any cult joiners to do the same. This will be fun, but also hopefully have the affect of attracting others to join as they will want the gems too.
